There are few organisations or groups that can boast so many loons returning year-in year-out for these kind of events, but the Highland Marchers are no normal people.
Some of this years troops have been an ever present, whereas some have only recently signed up for the end-to-end challenge. With 7 walkers taking on the chllenge and a new support driver for the week, the mix of experience and novice will make this years event a little more interesting. Find out who they are, and just what makes them want this punishment!

| How did you get involved in the Highland March? |
| It was suggested to me that this would be an exceedingly good career move in my late fifties. It was not a challenge too far and indeed I accepted |
| What is your most memorable Highland March moment? |
| My most memorable moment was advancing on the City of Inverness from the south in 2004. |
Why support Inverness Caledonian Thistle?
|
| I sometimes do when north of the border, as I have a relation through marriage, (not my own, I hasten to add) who hails from the good city of Inverness. |
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
|
| Seeing them beat St Johnstone in 2004! (SD1 Title won on last day!) |
What is your ultimate Highland March goal?
|
My ultimate goal is to ensure the Health and Safety of the Ambulators in reaching Inverness from Ayr in one piece, as the storm up the street to the ground for the last game of the season!

| How did you get involved in the Highland March? |
| It was mentioned on the caleythistleonline.com forums that a walk to Falkirk could happen, not only to celebrate a 50th birthday but also a potential SFL1 title decider. I, of course, didnt want to miss that chance. |
| What is your most memorable Highland March moment? |
| Way too many to decide, but those that stick out would be my 21st birthday on HM3 - totally immense day!!! Ambushes, dawn chorus (particularly Loch Tay on HM7), the general banter and 'the wum song'! |
Why support Inverness Caledonian Thistle?
|
| Why support anyone else...? I've followed them since before the merger in '94, but also followed Manchester United. It wasnt until I had to choose between the two one weekend that my loyalties were realised... Recreation Park, Alloa. Scottish 2nd Division. I went there to see Inverness win 4-1 whilst my other team, Man U, beat Coventry 3-2 just 4 miles from home. Good times! |
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
|
Again too many to mention, but seeing Inverness come from 4-0 down to finish the game 4-3 at Livingston was special. As was, of course, the Scottish cup drubbing of Celtic, 3-1 on 8th Feb 2000 at Parkhead...
Walking to the title party after HM2 will take some beating too, whilst our relegation at the end of HM7 will be one to forget! |
What is your ultimate Highland March goal?
|
| This has not changed since I set it - To complete 50 Highland Marches....... |

| I started it !!! |
| What is your most memorable Highland March moment? |
| There are two...First pitch invasion at Falkirk and forming the guard of honour for the teams after HM6 then still being on the pitch for the tribute to Tommy Burns. In that moment, I felt we'd achieved a wee place of honour within the football club |
Why support Inverness Caledonian Thistle?
|
| My wife was living in Inverness when we first met and as it was the season after the club was formed, it seemed like a good idea at the time. |

| How did you get involved in the Highland March? |
| Some idiot called Interthenet started it and got Jnr involved. I couldn't resist! |
| What is your most memorable Highland March moment? |
| Got to be HM2 when we walked from Clyde on the back of victory and then going on via Glen Tromie to see us win the league. You couldn't have written a better script |
Why support Inverness Caledonian Thistle?
|
| It was the result of a wonderful holiday in 1978 when I first came across Caledonian FC. I kind of took from there |

| How did you get involved in the Highland March? |
| I saw the guys when they finished the march the year we won the First Division - it seems so long ago now! I thought, that kind of insanity sounds like my kind of thing. |
| What is your most memorable Highland March moment? |
| I have many; running down the Devils' Staircase, wading through waist-deep rivers, Beach BBQ in the scorching sun, walking through the night, playing poker and drinking many a beer after a long days trek, CaleyD's endless knowledge of fascinating facts... the whole damn lot is just great craic! |
Why support Inverness Caledonian Thistle?
|
| Simple, they are my local team! I don't understand all those people who are born and bred in Inverness and follow the Old Firm. |
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
|
| Every ICT fan would say the win at Parkhead many years ago that sparked uproar at Celtic and brought us that headline, but that's been beaten to death and is quite boring now! A little more recent was our 3-1 win against St. Johnstone which won the 1st Division, or the 1-0 win at Ibrox, or coming back from behind to beat Celtic 3-2, magic moments that are all to infrequent nowadays. |
What is your ultimate Highland March goal?
|
| To continue marching until my legs give in. Even then, I might still be marching |
