Support Grows for Childrens Unit and Team ICT PDF Print E-mail
With approximately 10 weeks to go before the 6th Annual Highland March commences, support from Local and National businesses is gathering as the walkers keep busy behind the scenes, as well as down the gym and on the road.

The 'Virgin Mary', along with her Virgin Vie girls, has been helping us organise a fundraiser at the Kingsmills Suite, Tulloch Caledonian Stadium - a venue offered to us generously by ICT Commercial Manager, Darren Mackintosh.

This event will be unique to the Highland March, as it is the first time that such an evening will be arranged to raise money outwith the Traditional Stroll across Scotland - Plus, it will be the first time a mamber of the Highland March will suffer more pain than just blisters on the Feet and mild muscle cramps -  More details to follow soon.

Donations and sponsorships have started to come in from friends and family, as well as work colleagues of all walkers. Visitor attractions, such as Blair Athol Distillery, Hampden Park Museum and the House of Bruar have been extremely kind to offer Tour Vouchers, with the later offering a £50 Gift Token as their much appreciated ways of support.

Special thanks goes to Annette MacKenzie of Glenmorangie, who welcomed us for a chat in the Tain based shop -  Highland Marcher, Gringo Jnr, accepted a bottle of the 10 Year Old Malt as part of our raffle prize collection. Also Granada Studios, Manchester, have supplied us with an Jumper worn by actress Elizabeth Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth in ITV's famous soap opera - Corronation Street.

Training continues to play an important part year on year, and although the weather in Inverness has been hit and miss, this does not stop the walkers taking to the roads and planning routes to test out new equipment, new terrain and indeed their own abilities. Come Sun, Wind, Rain or Snow, these hardly lot are keeping their feet on the ground to ensure we yet again have a 100% End-to-End completion.

There is, however, still work to be done behind the scenes of HM6 - which is proving to be one of the most successful efforts in Highland Marching.

With over £12,000 raised in 5 previous outing, we really wouldn't be surprised should we smash our target of £3,500. The continued help and support from individuals and companies is welcomed year on year - Thank You!!!
