Here we meet some the Highland Marchers for Highland March 6.
Prior to setting off, each walker was interigated as to the reasons as to...Why???
*all photos to appear soon, as well as further profiles.

How did you get involved in the Highland March?
|
On the lead up to HM4 the Support Driver they had in place had to pull out due to work commitments. This left the Marchers in a bit of a pickle and as I wasn't working and had plenty of time on my hands I offered to step in and assist.
I have never looked back from that day and was made most welcome by the rest of the team - despite the miles these guys put in each day and how tired they get they never lose thier sense of humour (or thankfully direction)

I may only have been involved in one March so far, but have memories to treasure in abundance. However, don't think I'll be allowed to forget the incident with the Daffodils at the Hostel in Newtonmore.
"Don, think theirs a pot of flowers there, be careful as you go back"
We exit the minibus to discover that I had no trouble whatsoever locating the tub of Daffodils - Direct Hit!!!
Did a great job repotting them - "and would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky Marchers" - dobbed me in to the owner at the frst opportunity....lol
Allegedly I wasn't the first and the womans husband had warned her about putting the pot there....lol

What previous Charity Work have you done?
|
With a father who has been involved in more Community and Scout work over the years than I care to remember I have been roped in to more than my share of charity work. Everything from sponsored walks and treasure hunts as a kid to Gang Shows, Flag Days, Selling Raffle Tickets, Canvassing local companies for cash and support and any one off another 101 succesful and not so succesful ventures.
The range of beneficiaries has been very broad and part of the appeal of the HM is the desire for those involved to invest locally and further afield.

Who else is there??? I was a Caley Fan pre-merger and it was an exciting and logical move for that to continue with ICT. The merger was messy and had it's casualties, but as far as I am concerned it was worth it in the end.
We owe a lot to those who fought for the merger and although I was against it at the time I will happily put my hand up and acknowledge that it is probably the best thing that ever happened to Football in Inverness.

What is your most memorable ICT moment?
|
This is one I've not shared with many people before - and it is strangely enough a memory of a game/season missed.
Those who know me will know I went through a bit of a rough time in my previous job and as a result suffered from chronic depression and a breakdown. For longer than I wish to recall I never so much as stepped a foot out over the door, never spoke to friends - in short I had become a total recluse.
I was listening to the radio the day we won the Division 1 Title and gained the right to promotion to the SPL - something inside my head clicked that day and I realised that I should have been there with friends and fellow supporters and that I had missed out on a moment that would (hopefully) never be repeated.
That was the turning point on my road to recovery and a moment that will remain with me forever more - as melodramatic as it may sound to some people, I believe ICT saved my life.

How did you get involved in the Highland March?
I happened to hear about this via the old Forums on caleythistleonline.com. As a participant in many shorter walks with the family, I thought I'd give it a whirl - I've been every step of the way and have taken on more and more as the Highland March gets bigger and better
|
What is your most memorable March moment?
Too many to single them out... erm... Sitting on the Summit of Scheihallion at 8am on my 21st birthday was summin else, and who could forget the reception at Falkirk on the inaugeral outing. Not to forget, of course, jogs and races with Yompa and Chumba!!!
What previous Charity Work have you done?
Aside from the Highland March, I have only helped organise events with my Primary and Secondary schools for National Fundraisers such as Children in Need and Red Nose Day.
Why Support Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC?
I used to follow Manchester Utd, but given the chance to head to Second Division Alloa Athletic or head 5 minutes down the road to watch them play Coventry, there was only one possible decision to make!!!
I've been die hard ever since! |
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
Yet again I have a few. The famous 3-1 cup win over Celtic was awesome, but so too was the 4-3 defeat to Livingston for the Second Division title. To go 4 goals down within 20 minutes of kick off, to almost force a draw - crazy stuff!

How did you get involved in the Highland March?
Because I'm an Idiot who's always up for a challenge! I eventually got in touch with Yompa and the rest, as they say, is history.
What is your most memorable March moment?
Has to be the Lap of Honour at East End Park at the end of my first event. To be the flag bearer during it was an honour!
What previous Charity Work have you done?
I've been on board the previous 2 Highland Marches, and competed in a Marathon in support of the Highland Hospice. I've also done various things whilst at school.
Why Support Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC?
Quite simply they are my local team. I've followed them since their formation way back in 1994
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
The League and Cup double was a great season for the club, and to see us beating the Old Firm sides (Celtic and Rangers) is always a reason to celebrate.

Have admired these guys from affar and started to enquire through Beatonio. This is my debut into an event of this nature and I'm looking forward to the Challenge
What is your most memorable March moment?
So far none. This is my Debut event.
What previous Charity Work have you done?
I once did a walk to raise money when I was at school, but no idea of where or how far |
Why Support Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC?
My Hometown team. Despite being born in Falkirk, I have spent all but 3 months of my life in Sneck. (Plus, my father wouldn't let me support either of the Old Firm outfits).
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
The 3 victories over Celtic. 3-1 Parkhead, 1-0 TCS and 3-2 this season after being 2-0 down at one stage.

What is your most memorable March moment?
Being a march-virgin I am yet to discover my most memorable moment but fingers crossed there shall be many.

I've done all the usual things that you do through school and the Girl Guides. I also did a 10 mile swim for Breast Cancer Care.

Why not?
What is your most memorable ICT moment?
|
There have been so many but I have to say the first SPL game in Inverness against Dunfermline. Don't get me wrong, our cup victories against Celtic and Hearts were great, but to have SPL football in Inverness after only ten years was simply an amazing achievement.
